Urban North Feature Home: Lot 1

This home, originally our model home, offers 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a 3-car garage. This unit incorporates a spacious kitchen, open living area and ample storage. Distinct roof lines, various window sizes with unique placement and different types of wall cladding create a unique, modern elevation. Introducing a new concept of living to the Kansas City area, this is the first of 24 homes, completed in Urban North, a new, modern and energy-efficient subdivision.

The main floor from the garage opens to a guest bath, den/office space and kitchen. The kitchen features modern IKEA cabinetry with a large island and butler bar. LED lights underneath the cabinets and above the butler bar change colors and draw attention to the custom, unique backsplash. The entire main floor features large windows, embracing natural light while the great room has a tile surround fireplace with media storage and a reclaimed wood mantle. All the bedrooms are on the second floor along with a dedicated laundry room for accessibility. Green building methods have been implemented throughout the exterior and interior of the home.  In fact, this home is currently pending 3rd-party approval for the LEED – Silver Certification and ENERGY STAR for New Homes certification.

Adding to the modern design and energy-efficiency concept, Owen Homes has selected to use varying sizes and unique placement of Andersen 100 Series windows with Smartsun tinting. Other materials, such as ENERGY STAR appliances, Sherwin Williams Low VOC paint, LED lighting and a programmable thermostat, were specifically selected for this residence to carefully combine energy efficiency with a contemporary style.
